Regional Training Course on Development and Implementation of Clinical Guidelines in Sexual and Reproductive Health[:]

The Regional Training Course on Development and Implementation of Clinical Guidelines in Sexual and Reproductive Health was organized during 7 and 11 September 2015, at Leogrand Hotel and Convention Center in Chisinau, Republic of Moldova (see details in the Agenda).

The course was organized by the Reproductive Health Training Centre (RHTC) with the support of the UNFPA Regional Office for Eastern Europe and Central Asia, in the framework of UNFPA Regional Initiative for Reproductive Health Practice Guidelines in Europe Eastern Europe and Central Asia and East European Institute for Reproductive Health, Romania.

Since 2015 RHTC is the coordinating organization of the Regional Training Center on Development and Implementation of Clinical Guidelines and Protocols on Reproductive Health (see details on https://cidsr.md/en/proiecte/proiecte-in-derulare/).

The course was attended by representatives of Ministries of health of Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and Moldova (see details in the List of participants).

Regional Course aim is to support stakeholders in countries of Eastern Europe and Central Asia to establish a systematic approach to clinical guideline development/adaptation/implementation within a national program on quality improvement.

The course was facilitated by academic and health professionals from Moldova trained by Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynecologists, UK (RCOG) experts as master trainers on Clinical Guidelines development, adaptation and implementation for East European and Central Asia region.

The course is useful to policy makers, programme managers and health care professionals who are interested in developing /adapting and implementing clinical guidelines/protocols.

The course offered a unique opportunity to obtain knowledge about the methodology of Clinical Guidelines development on Sexual and Reproductive Health topics developed by the RCOG and East European Institute for Reproductive Health (EEIRH).

Special guests at the opening of the event were: Ruxanda Glavan, Minister of Health of RM; Ian McFarlane, UNFPA Representative in Moldova; Natalia Cojohari, Assistant Representative, ad int.

Programme Analyst on Reproductive Health and Youth, United Nations Population Fund Moldova; Tamar Khomasuridze, Regional consultant in sexual and reproductive health, the Regional Office for Eastern Europe and Central Asia, UNFPA; Teymur Seydov, Specialist programs on sexual and reproductive health, the Regional Office for Eastern Europe and Central Asia, UNFPA; Mihai Horga, Program coordinator, Foundation East European Institute for Reproductive Health, Romania.

This year, for the first time, were introduced country presentations prepared by participants to highlight situation in their countries on developing and implementing clinical guidelines on sexual and reproductive health. The presentations are available below:

 
With the purpose of continuity and sustainability, based on accumulated knowledge, delegations from each country developed a national action plan to improve the process of developing, adapting and implementing clinical guidelines/protocols, including actions for accreditation and institutionalization of the regional course at country level.

At the end of the course, participants completed evaluation questionnaires, which serve as a basis for evaluating if the objectives were achieved and basis for further course improvement.
